Fall is the perfect season to get your home clean and cozy. After enjoying the hot days in summer, this is a great time to get some outside work done, and when the cold days are coming, it’s time to get the indoor work done. So, today, we’ll help you with a checklist of what to do and where to start.
- Clean and store your outdoor furniture: Pick a dry and sunny day to clean your furniture and get rid of any stain. If you don’t have a space to store the furniture, protect it with custom covers or weatherproof tarps secured with bungee cords.
- Clean and store the garden equipment: Your garden will be dormant during winter, so it’s time to clean your garden equipment, and do the necessary repairs. After that, when you need it in the spring, everything will be ready.
- Clean Gutters and Downspouts: Fall leaves are beautiful, but they clog your gutters and downspouts. Therefore, during fall, you should clean often while the leaves are still falling, and make sure to use tools that are safe.
- Winterize outdoor pools and water features: If you have a pool, spa, or water features that are not heated, you should cover them and winterize exposed pipes and faucets to avoid many repairs.
- Install storm windows: This will help insulate the house and make it more energy efficient. As the window unit ACs will be taken out, clean them and do any necessary repairs.
- Inspect chimneys and fireplaces: Cleaning your chimney and fireplace will prevent fire accidents in your house. This is very important, so do not leave this for the next season, do it as early as possible.
- Clean or replace the HVAC filters: Changing the filters will help improve the quality of the air in your home and reduce the wear and tear of your heating system.
